3 Illustrations of the Power of Mindful Breathing
by Talia C.
I haven't been sleeping soundly these days and my stomach gets queasy middle of the night and like clock work, 0430, 0600.... I get to start my work mornings with a spew session. But today, my day off, when I woke up with a queasy belly at the usual times, I just started breathing deeply through my nose, lengthening my exhalations and it put me back to sleep, vomit-free! Haha.
Got to sleep until 0830, feels like a small victory. Still feel icky and woozy but win some lose some.
Yogic breathing for the win!!!
by S.A. Gray
Yoga helps me to let go and enjoy just being. I am more calm and centred, learning how to reduce stress and tension with slow breathing. Emotionally, I am able to keep a calm mind by being in the present moment – watching thoughts, acknowledging them without needing to react. I have most enjoyed the results! A better feeling about myself as well as a healthier outlook. It is a great way to spend time developing the body while growing as a person.
by Sharon M. The most important aspects in a yoga class for me are focusing on the breath, correct body alignment and relaxation. Mentally, I am much more relaxed in my thinking and behaviour. There are times and situations when I need to put my mind into focusing on a certain outcome. Through yoga I am more aware of when and how I need to do this. I enjoy yoga classes and having the opportunity to do them at work is a bonus!
