The word "Prana" in Sanskrit, the classical language of India, signifies the subtle energy which flows through all of us. In English, prana is translated as life force, in Chinese chi as in Chi Kung and in Japanese ki as in Aikido. Prana circulates through our body and can be stimulated by activating our hands in this energy meditation practice.

Hand Energy Meditation:

Sitting or standing, extend your arms in front of you, elbows softly bent. Turn your palms to face each other, your hands slightly cupped and approximately 10 inches apart. Slowly bring your palms toward each other until they are about 5 inches apart. As you inhale, slowly move your hands away from each other and as you exhale bring them back to each other maintaining the same 10 to 5 inch distance.

Close your eyes and let your mind be quiet. As you continue moving your hands back and forth, feel the sensation of a ball of magnetic energy held within your hands. Experiment with the energy bouncing the ball from hand to hand. Keep the fluid movement of your hands as you maintain a relaxed and steady breath. Meditate on the energy radiating through your hands.
